2010 began in the most wonderful way, a white snowy Wedding!

If I may rewind to the previous night were I attended the rehearsal, it was a great experience driving down the back roads of Bicester. My Tom Tom, as wonderful as it is, doesn’t always take me the quickest way, it was dark, cold, icy and snow that night so I had to rely on my sat nav to get me to the church in time. The road was very slippery, but that’s why having a 4 wheel drive Audi comes in handy. Also, it was left to me to make a very big decision, more on that later.

There I met Harriet and Rob. Two of the most lovely people you could ever meet. I could see the excitement in Harriet’s face as all their hard work and planning was coming to this day.

On the very cold Wedding morning, myself and Kelly arrived with plenty of time to setup and to discuss any changes that may have happened. I asked Kelly to setup at the back with the 80-200mm on a tripod while I covered the Harriet’s arrival.

I waiting outside with two of the ushers. It was -5c with a sharp wind that chilled through our coats. But it was good fun, there was plenty of friendly banter about the cold and that helped to take our mind off the cold.

Harriet arrived in fashion, a very beautiful classic Bentley. The bride needed assistance getting out of the car because of the slippery conditions but her and the brides maids were having a good giggle about it walking up to the church.

Then the big entrance, I dashed ahead to get to the front to get the classic ‘coming down the aisle’ shot.

The rest of the ceremony went without a hitch, at the request of the pastor I was limited to where I could move but the newly weds knew this so it was not a problem.

Next came the the group shot, it was my big decision last night to take the big group photos inside the church; last night people were undecided about indoors or outdoors because of the freezing temperature and they all looked to me to decide so I said “indoors” to which everyone had a mini sigh of relief.

Photographing inside presents it’s own challenges; how do I get a good angle to fit in 100 people? Go UP of course! So with a bit of negotiation I went up to where the organist was playing and took the big group shot from up there.

Before long, it was time to get to the reception. We got there with plenty of time, however a few of the brides maids arrived late, because of this Harriet wanted to stay in the car until everyone had arrived which mean we had to wait outside for a bit longer, this was a great opportunity to take candid shots and more focused photographs of the gorgeous Bentley.

After a more group shots inside, I had completed my half day assignment and it was time to go. We wrapped up by taking establishing shots of the breakfast room before the guests entered.
