New Years Day, a lost key, post wedding drinks and too many vodka cranberries

Talk about going into 2010 with a bang, I started this year off in the most random of situations. Let’s just say someone lost the keys to his hired car, but against the odds he still finds them and we still make it in time for dinner!!

If you ever make it down to the South West coast of Wales to a small town called Tenby, then watch out for the locals, they know how to party!

Remembering Vietnam

2007 was an awesome year for me, probably the best year in my life. So much happened that I don’t even know where to start… so I won’t. But I did want to share my favourite sunset in Hoi An in Vietnam. I dedicate this post to my travel buddy in Vietnam Alex Berman. It was, as he colourfully puts it, “Hot as Baaalllls” which turned into a catchphrase over there; it was an amazing little excursion for the two of us. We didn’t go far as it was getting dark (hence the sunset), but it wasn’t the distance travelled, it was jsut two guys walking the streets of Hoi An and stumbling upon the most wonderful painting in the sky. It is something that will be with me forever.

An inspirational pose for my next Wedding Bride

Girl perfectly posed on steps

I simply think her pose is perfect. A woman’s neck is often missed by the photographer but it is something I try hard to capture. Along with her obvious beautiful legs the dress is simple, the lighting is high and slightly behind her. It’s great!

Married for five days before being overcome by Cancer

I stumbled upon this article about a bride Katie Kirkpatrick (21) who endured cancer to get married to Nick Godwin. This made me think about mortality and the triumph over the inevitable. Even though Katie knew her time in this life was short she still would have to spend alot of time and energy preparing for a wedding. What I find even more sad is that it takes impending death to remind us what is important in this world before we meet our maker.

We all live in fear, we all struggle to fit in and yet we try so hard to be individuals. This dichotomy would seem bizarre to an Alien visitor. It is only our finite line that has the power to overcome all that. It puts us in our place.

Take a look at your life, are you the best that you can be? I live everyday with my metaphorical cancer, I struggle to be the best of me but I live in the knowledge I am doing something about it.

Rolling Bridge!

Nothing more to say that is just looks amazing! I cannot even fathom the level of engineering required to building something like this!

Photographing Wedding Rings

wedding-rings-with-roses-3

I had a unique photographic assignment this evening;  photograph a Bride and Groom’s wedding rings. I have photographed just rings before but never in a professional capacity. I’ll admit that I was a little apprehensive because although I believed in my abilities, I wasn’t sure about the client’s expectations! Photography isn’t something everyone appreciates so when I showed the back of my Nikon to the couple I wasn’t sure what they were thinking; however they made the polite positive nods and approving murmurs which can’t be a bad sign.

Cheese Wedding Cake

No joke, before my eyes even glimpsed at this cake you could smell it from several rooms way but in a good way. It wasn’t so much a “Cheese Cake” but more like a tower of Cheese! I had a nibble and I can confirm it was delicious, but more than that it looks amazing! The textures and colours makes it something unique and certainly nothing I have seen before! Loved it.

The best wedding cake in the world?

Whilst trawling through the web, I stumbled on this cake. I love the colours and it’s very homemade look! Brilliant. View the rest of the photos here
